🔗 Share this article The second-hand marketplace Shoppers Express Frustration About Sizing Modifications Members of the platform have expressed outrage following a change that caused products showing incorrect sizing. This online marketplace has updated its size classifications for women's and children's garments but did not contact all users about the change. Online Platforms Backlash Countless users and merchants are expressing on platforms claiming that product pages now present a different size category than originally posted due to the recalibration. The company said the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces. They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, causing user dissatisfaction. Sizing System Changes Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, like S/8 or M/10. The new system has a letter and a range for example S/UK 8-10. With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - like an L measurement used to be a 12 but now shows as UK 16-18. Shopper Experiences One content creator, who creates plus-size fashion videos, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult". "Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," the way the service now categorizes. Another user, located in Scotland, explained products she uploaded with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22. "If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they're going to be very disappointed," she explained. Required Changes A different user, based in Derby, explained she became annoyed by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item". "For me this is particularly frustrating, as I'm chronically ill and Vinted sales have been crucial for me since losing part of my income," she explained. Service Background The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, with 18 million British users. It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop. This represents another occasion when a surprising modification on the platform has faced criticism: earlier, the service retracted a modification to its shipping options due to shopper criticism.
